Many Gen X'ers like myself grew up to be independent, government loathing individuals who don't need authoritarian mommy or daddy to control and take care of us from cradle to grave due to being latchkey kids who lacked adult supervision to a large degree, and had to figure things out on our own.

I am not resentful of that. In fact, I am very thankful to have grown into a mature, independent-minded adult, while so many others seem to go through their entire lives in adult bodies, but with child-like minds that still need a night lite to feel safe and secure.
