A third-party to facilitate transactions is used because it provides a benefit for both parties.
If the third-party only exists to stop transactions or make it more difficult, productive businesses will stop using them.
This has happened thousands of times throughout history...it's literally what hyperinflation is, the medium of exchange becomes worthless, it's better to use something else (or barter).
