Years ago, a friend of mine wound up in sub nuke school. He was given a manual to study, and being military, it had a glossary for specialized terms. One of them in particular appeared in a lot of procedures for the reactors was "manual agitation", such as "if X doesn't produce the desired result, use manual agitation and try again."
"Manual agitation" was defined as hitting the nuclear reactor or other related parts with a big wrench.
He went out that weekend, got ridicuously stoned, then returned from leave late to get kicked out 'coz he didn't want to make a career of smacking around reactors. Ended up as an engineer at a audio company.
