Then they took out a 2nd (possibly 3rd actually) mortgage on the house to finance a vacation to Israel (organized by their strip mall church,) and then raised their rent even more lmao

The only reason I am planning to buy more than 1 home is so that I can let my children live there for free when they grow up and never have to worry about rent ever in their life.
That's my plan as well, more or less. If I can't afford a second property then we will all shack up like a 3 generation Italian family. Kicking your kids out at 18 is a psyop to keep everyone disenfranchised.
