People who move to LA to become an actress. People move to Seattle to be part of a grunge scene that was barely real when it was current. People who variously move to San Francisco to be part of a gold rush, a hippie paradise, or a gay mecca. They leave their home in the country for the magic of a big city. Whatever illusory thing they think will bring them massive joy but ends up with them not even sure why they're there, but has also disconnected them from the place that is their "home" but can't ever be the way it was now that they were gone, sacrificing the role they filled in that community and taking away their continuity of knowing what was there over time. You can fill some of the knowledge gap but you won't ever understand it the way someone who was there will.
