So we arrive at a crossroads, where we are forced to ask the question: Do you want gender equality, or do you want civilization?
One of the fundamental principles of civilization is that murder is not allowed. Once you allow it at all, it's a slippery slope to the point where nobody can sleep safely.
An illustration of the slippery slope is "assisted suicide", which was legalized in Canada. It took less than a decade before abuses emerged such as government officials pressuring children to agree to die without parental consent. If you extrapolate that out, you'd have mass extermination gas chambers inside of the century.
Civilization has rules, and when you begin abandoning those rules, you soon lose everything that made civilization ... civilized.
So what do you do if some large subset of the citizenry wants to abandon the rules?

By that logic, why bother having and pretending to raise children if they all belong to the government?
In the end, it's a question of priority: is the father more afraid of the government scolding him than avenging the person who murdered his children? The babies he held when they were born, the boy and girls he played as they were growing up and that counted on him to keep them safe and happy?
