@DrFell Obviously, this kind of waste is egregious. In fact, it literally boggles the mind (which is why most humans have difficulty even reasoning about numbers that high).

But let's not treat it as exceptional. For comparison, the national debt went up a little over 15 trillion during the 8 years prior to 2025. That's effectively money that Congress spent *over and above* all revenue from taxes, tariffs, fines, etc, etc, etc. Back of the napkin math, that means that Congress spent, in the average day, $5 BILLION more than they took in.

The federal government is big. And it is irresponsible. So yeah. DoW blowing 2.5 billion a day is a lot, and should raise eyebrows. But it reads like a biased hit piece on Trump to build a whole article around it without showing how it compares to the $5bn/day business-as-usual waste, fraud, and abuse in Congress.
