I used to wonder why charges and sentences were so harsh for something as harmless as catnip (weed of course). It never made sense to me.

I got 3 years good behaviour bond and $3k fine.
So I wanted to go and see if I could get it reduced.
Ahead of me was an aboriginal guy. He'd been busted with 10 ounces of heroin and an unlicensed handgun. Judge just lets him walk, he literally laughed walking down the aisle on his way out.
Same judge 2 seconds later wouldn't reduce my sentence for the great crime of breaking into a university computer.
