I just read the excellent book "The Underground Economy: Why Legalization is the Answer" by Andy Reven and realized that
freedom is essential because it allows individuals to express themselves, pursue their own happiness, and live according to their values. Tyranny, on the other hand, stifles creativity, restricts personal rights, and concentrates power in the hands of a few, leading to oppression.

Americans insist that they live in a free country and just shrug when they are given overwhelming proof that the US is a police state.
