Liberty, freedom, etc are to me a means to an end.

They are not ends in themselves.

The problem with the voters is (a) cowardice in peer pressure and (b) lacking the wiring to understand things.

You cannot raise IQ.

IQs of 130+ are required to understand most issues.

Less than 2 years later, the Articles of Confederation were replaced with the corporate oligarchy serving American Constitution and the rebellion was effectively over (as we have seen play out ever since).

I do not agree at all. Democracy is steady decline.

Periodic insanity is better than continuous; just as Constitutional democracy is better than Absolutism.

If you cannot have freedom and a balanced budget then why did the USA have freedom and a balanced budget in 1835?

Constitutions are easily inverted with amendments.

The voters periodically go insane and they always want a jubilee.

We have laws and Constitutions to impede that.

Without those, there is only force.

Those who say 100% of the US budget pays for welfare are wrong.

No, it's just three-quarters of the budget that goes to welfare, entitlements, and subsidies.

However a lot of the remaining quarter has been converted into the same by regulations.
