Arians still viewed Christ as God, they just disputed what it meant for him to have a divine essence. Their error is more like polytheism than unitarianism.
If Arabia had Eunomians, their influence would make more sense, but it's more likely that Muhammad just took to jewish unitarianism.

The Ka'aba was originally a Pagan multi-faith temple built to foster peaceful trade and mutual respect between the local tribes, as was Ramadan, the Hajj and most of the rest of their traditions. In the Ka'aba to this day there's still a baetylus (the black stone) consecrated to Allah's wife, Al-Lat who was the mother goddess of Mohammed's tribe the Quraysh. The hundreds of shrines to all the other deities which used to be housed inside were destroyed by the pedo Mohammed.

Spencer makes the argument that early Muslims were the rejected followers of the Christian heretic Arias.
The Arias cult had spread throughout North Africa and the Arabian peninsula by the 6th century.
The rapid conversion of Christians of those areas to Islam cannot easily be explained by the sword... Islam, once it reached non-Arian parts of the world, shed much more blood converting much smaller areas.
But for Arians, who denied the divinity of Christ, to convert to Islam, which denies the divinity of Christ, is much easier to swallow.
