@freepatriot

Either that or they vote for pleasant illusions then are shocked when things turn out the opposite.

@h4890 @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot

In general, I think politicians get blamed for a lot

But the motherfucker is the herd

People want illusions

This never worked for me however

@freepatriot

I admire your consistency.

I am part libertarian, but mostly monarchist.

Hope you don't mind.

@h4890 @Palky55 @heretical_i @freepatriot

Education's benefits map to the bell curve.

Politicians are using it as an anti-poverty program.

@h4890 @heretical_i @Palky55 @freepatriot

As you probably know, I avoid Wikipedia and other Google projects, but I appreciate the clarification.

As a student of English, I suggest we all consider saying "realist consequentialism" because anything else will be repurposed.

Wow.

Americans don't vote and don't protest and say that Americans are just victims.

That's why politicians fear education and are doing their best to dismantle schools. The more educated, the more critical thinking and the more confident, the more difficult to control.

Yes, the herd today is a problem, but the politicians and the system today is designed to make people herd-like, and to prevent them from growing into adult human beings.

@heretical_i @monarchist @Palky55 @freepatriot

My original reference to pragmaticism was to the american school of philosophy. And there is, in fact, a pragmatist kind of ethics, although it is disputed. Some argue (and I do think they have a point) that pragmatist ethics is purely descriptive and not normative.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pragmati .

@monarchist Means 'whatever needs to be done/said/etc for "goals", even if it goes against one's ethics. However I dont believe pragmatists have such a thing as ethics (1/2 kidding). It's also a short way of saying "I sell out". @h4890 @Palky55 @freepatriot

@heretical_i @h4890 @Palky55 @freepatriot

By definition, if ethics (reframing: big social goals) are sacrificed in order to make small goals happen, then pragmatism would be a rejection of ethics.

@heretical_i @h4890 @Palky55 @freepatriot

I do not agree. Any behavior standard involves goals, if abstracted to the level of consequences.

The politicians make sure 'education' indoctrinates the herd. It's the law you know @monarchist? Did you mean that cosmic cookie author Virginia Safir? Havent seen that name since the 1970s @h4890 @Palky55 @freepatriot

I dont buy your reframung. You're describing morals then, which are mutable. Ethics arent @monarchist @h4890 @Palky55 @freepatriot
