How would you feel if you just spent 10 minutes trying to explain to someone that the USA used to be a free country and fought Communists and Nazis and then were told that toothpicks must be banned?

Maybe living in a free country leads people to be trusting and friendly and living in a police state causes people to be suspicious and rude.

Americans used to be surprised Russians from the Soviet Union were unfriendly.

Now that the USA is also a police state, you might understand why.

No one hates morality more than Americans do.

There is no small number of people with nothing to lose, just waiting for the point of no hope in their lives, like inoperable cancer, the murderer of their children being given a Nig Out of Jail Free card, or some other horrible thing that would make someone be willing to throw everything away.
The smarter ones try not to hint at it, never mind speak directly about it.

No one hates morality more than Americans do.
