When the USA was a free country, tyranny was limited because the US could take the moral high ground and stand up for freedom.
Now there is no limit to tyranny.

It doesn’t have to have been in person, you’ve likely seen it in a movie or a TV show; something where the person is asked nicely, but forcefully, to leave and they cause a huge scene as they walk to the door – knocking over drinks, bumping into people, being very loud, etc.
