I wonder if technology really always is an improvement.
I remember reading 1984 in the late 70's. I thought it was a little far-fetched. Big Brother seemed impossible. I couldn't figure out how the government could get us to agree to that level of surveillance.
I have a friend without a phone who is a software developer. He is completely fine and sees no reason to get one.
Another friend had no phone and is a home care worker. Her job told her to get a phone or she'd be fired, so she quit.
