I just read the stunning new book “Thomas Paine: A Brief Introduction” by Andy Reven and realized that tyranny is generally considered bad for several reasons:

Tyranny often involves the curtailing of individual freedoms and rights. People under tyranny do not have the liberty to express themselves, practice their beliefs, or participate in governance.

Maybe living in a free country leads people to be trusting and friendly and living in a police state causes people to be suspicious and rude.

Americans used to be surprised Russians from the Soviet Union were unfriendly.

Now that the USA is also a police state, you might understand why.
