Decentralized things are subject to competitive pressure which causes them to improve over time.

Centralized things are not so subject, so they can only degrade over time.

Exactly how they degrade is anyone's guess, but the failure of a public school system and the failure of a worn out engine are the same fundamental process.

Is Rand Paul the only American who still cares about freedom?

@h4890 @monarchist @Example @freepatriot There is massive difference between equal opportunity and equal outcomes.

Generally speaking, the right believes in equality of opportunity. Everyone has an equal opportunity to compete in any given market, and the best players win. The outcomes are not equal and are not intended to be. The keyword is opportunity and the right sees life as a positive sum game.

The left believes in equality of outcome across genders, races and orientations (hence intersectionality because it's a complex of ill-defined groups). When natural law delivers differences in outcomes across any specific market (eg. the market for CEOs) the left claims discrimination and ignores the differences in work ethic, natural talent, individual preferences, etc. This is where you get concepts like quotas and the "wage gap." The keyword is outcomes and the left sees life as a zero sum game.
@h4890 @monarchist @freepatriot Revolutions are where one aristocracy is replaced with another entirely. This always happens by force because no group gives up power voluntarily (even if some individuals might).
@h4890 @monarchist @freepatriot Are you talking strictly about the market for ideas (politics) or markets in general?
