"Many in the United States were outraged by what they perceived to be an overly harsh sentence for Calley. Georgia's Governor, Jimmy Carter, future President of the United States, instituted American Fighting Man's Day, and asked Georgians to drive for a week with their lights on."

That was First Lieutenant William Calley of the infamous My Lai Massacre, if context is needed.

Jimmy Carter could be relied upon to make the worst choice in any complex situation...
idealists seldom make good presidents, or even good decisions
but they're also sometimes not war criminals so...

Wow.

Americans are all bootlicking Commies now.

Americans will look you in eye and say that the USA never sanctioned the Soviet Union and then scream Marxist nations that invade other countries should never be punished.

The elites are obviously killing off the 99% and Americans are not saying a word.

Strange.

The Soviet Union had the second-longest economic boom ever observed, becoming the second-largest economy in the world by the late 1960s (up from a Third World basket case under Stalin). Culture is upstream of both politics and economics, good leadership can make bad systems work. Its what happens when an economy goes into failure mode that really distinguishes central planning and market economies.

The USA did a roaring trade with the USSR, starting in 1917. One man's human rights abuse is another man's business opportunity.

WTF?

The Soviet Union was not wealthy.

The USA did not trade with the Soviet Union because the USSR abused human rights.

Americans say that there is absolutely no way for anyone born after 1945 to know WWII history.

Don't be surprised when you get sent to the killing fields.
