As Johnathan Freedland notes, Keir Starmer was once a well-respected human right lawyer; for all the advice he will be getting to change (if he survives the Mandelson vetting crisis), he might be better advised to return to the mind-set & practices that served him well in legal practice.
As Freedland suggests, if he had retained that lawyerly approach, many of his recent troubles might not have overcome him (although he has other faults, of course).
