I'm not a great proponent of financial literacy as it often seems to me to amount to victim blaming.... but there is one economic relationship that if more people understood, many financial miss-steps would be avoided.

And that is:

interest rates are the price of risk.

Yes, central banks do manipulate them, but in a more general sense, the interest rate is an indicator of the risk of not being repaid.

Once that's understood, investments choices & fiscal policies become clearer!

@ChrisMayLA6 You can apply this to dividends as well. If the dividend is too high, there is often a reason for it. I limit myself to 3%-5% at the time of purchase.
