There are growing suspicions (set out here some weeks ago & now gaining traction in the mainstream media) that people close to the Tangerine Tyrant are using insider knowledge to place bets on political actions/developments....

Are are we surprised?.... of course not; the Court of the Tangerine Tyrant is only out for itself & is seeking to maximise the financial returns of the Tyrant's remaining time in the White House.

@ChrisMayLA6 We are not surprised, and it is important to note, that this is common practice all over the "democratic" west. I bet you a beer that if you were to compare the returns on investments of politicians vs the people, you would find that the politicians somehow perform a lot better than the people.

But it doesn't stop there. Compare wealth, and accumulated pension benefits, and you'll see that todays "democratic" politicians are our new lords and masters and they live like it too.

@ChrisMayLA6 Realizing this, together with the corona debacle, is what made me stop voting. I reduce my tax bill with lawyers instead, and generally try to avoid people. It has made me much happier!

Interestingly, I have been forced (due to my wife's care needs & anxiety about social interactions) to scale back considerably on social interactions & to be frank I miss some (if not all) that that entailed.... my circle of friends has dwindled to its absolute core, and while they have been very supportive I do find it an unwelcome development (so for me, not so good)

@ChrisMayLA6 Ahh... but I think that you are naturally a social and likeable person! I'm somewhat of a misanthrope, or rather, I have become, so I have a very small core that I see, and probably not more often than once every 2 months or so. The people I see often is my father and my wife. That's almost enough.

But I do worry that when I retire, it won't be enough, and science teaches us that being involved in some kind of community is beneficial for mental health. So I suspect that at some

@ChrisMayLA6 point in my life, when my father is dead, and when I'm somewhat retired, I will be forced to seek out some kind of community. But time will tell!

@h4890

Don't sell yourself short; if our interactions have taught me anything about you it is that actually you do value interactions, but it takes a little time for you to lower your guard - in itself not such a bad thing (there are plenty of idiots about).... my guess is when you retire you'll engineer entry to a community where you can find a slowly growing group of people you trust enough to let in... which is all part of finding (real) friends - same with my best friend... it took time
