Copy Fail: Every #Linux distro from 2017 to 2026 is vulnerable. Gives a root shell.

Stuff like this makes me upset about current tech. It would be better if OS codebases were smaller. They're unmanageably large nowadays. #digitalMinimalism #KeepItSimpleAndStupid

This #vuln was surfaced with #AI , in reportedly about *an hour of scanning*! xint.io #XInt

FreeBSD kernel: 9M lines of code
NetBSD kernel: 7.3M lines of code
OpenBSD kernel: 2.9M lines of code
Linux: 40M lines of code

Not every current OS codebase is unmanageably large.

@deBaer @golemwire Would be interesting to see how many lines of code is dedicated to various hardware quirks. On the other hand, NetBSD may run on more cpu architectures than linux.

So the question remains... what does all that extra code do?
