It seems to me to be a pity that Andy Burnham still feels drawn to national politics after making much of his dedication to the role of Mayor of Manchester.
In a less centralised political economy, we might expect leaders to revel in their regional bases & be committed to making (in this case) Manchester even more of a success.
Sadly, the siren call of Westminster seems to be calling to Burnham; many in Manchester will be disappointed at this shift in his priorities.
