@sj_zero @amerika I use the words individualist to mean the healthy individual who bases his life on taking responsibility for himself. The other one I call an egoist, which is an unhealthy and destructive state of mind, and which, if too severe, can be seen as a mental illness.
Don't let the left capture the word individual just like they did with the word liberal. Liberal originally meant the ideology of freedom. This was perverted by the left to spread socialism. It is really very sad.

It does not need to imply freeing people from something.
Egalitarianism is the opposite of classical liberalism or libertarianism, since it ascribes no values to the individual.
But we know our definitions differ, which is why we arrive at different conclusions from the same words.

"Liberalism" means liberating people from something. That implies that reality and/or society is bad because it... limits the individual.
Note: libertarianism is a variety of liberalism because both are based on egalitarianism.
