I just installed #Unbound on my computer so that Google can stop seeing all my DNS traffic. It was very easy.
Remember: If you have "nameserver 8.8.8.8" then Google sees it every time you access anything by DNS name. There's no caching and no override for local names, because those are supposed to be implemented on the nameserver, which is supposed to be in your network.
"nameserver 1.1.1.1" is no better. It has to be "nameserver 127.0.0.1" or at least "192.168.x.y"

I posted this because I just installed Unbound on my computer, which was extremely easy to set up (for a seasoned Linux user), and does this itself. My DNS server is 127.0.0.1, which, if you know anything at all about networking, means my own computer :)
