@h4890 Against illegal immigration and in particular the small boat crossings it seems. Apart from the extreme dangers of these, to the people on the boats and the rescuers, it occurred to me that the total cost to the UK must be huge. In order to pay for it I suppose some deserving UK citizen doesn’t get some help they need. That's just my opinion though.

@TimWardCam @kibcol1049 Because then all of them came through the EU and it was legally impossible to stop them. For instance, for a time it was common practice for denmark to ship immigrants onward to sweden. I'm sure this happened with the UK as well. Why would people go with boats all the way to the UK, when they can land in spain, and then continue by land? Much easier!

You might have travelled within the EU and had to show a passport? No? Maybe you are not a frequent flyer to eastern and southern europe.
The law also gives countries the right to impose passport controls and to reject people wihout ID:s during special situations as decided by the countries themselves.
Last, but definitely not least, countries can completely disregard any EU laws about borders, and

@mkoek @TimWardCam @kibcol1049 This is the truth! I missed the question mark. Countries can stop them in EU, but it depends on the country and the interpretation. Speaking from a swedish perspective, politicians are so afraid of losing well paid, and untaxed money from EU jobs that they do not dare to stop immigrants. They claim that they must take them in while they evaluate their refugee status (nonsense) and I suspect that this is exactly what the UK government has been doing.
@mkoek @TimWardCam @kibcol1049 In sweden it led increased rape and crime, and also that demographically, swedes will be a minority in their own country in 2 generations or so. It is sad that swedish politicians has led this to happen, and this can potentially lead to national socialist scenarios in the future.
