@ChrisMayLA6 Yes, I'm also sure of it.
unitarian universalists" and lo and behold... I discovered that the UU have actually collapsed into a very left learning political organization, and they seem to have very little to do with spirituality any longer.
They seem to contradict their own principles, and very happy to eject republicans from their communities.
Searching for the quakers, they do seem much more accepting, and loathe to turn their religion into politics.
As regular readers of my posts know... I often dabble in exploring and creating my own philosophy of existence, and that also entails exploring the values of the worlds religions from time to time, without me calling myself religious.
The past week, I looked into the more modern versions of christianity such as the quakers and the unitarian universalists, and I discovered a very interesting test for how open and spiritual each community is.
I searched for "republican quakers" or "republican
@ChrisMayLA6 after that, the journey to the mainstream started, and the journey to the founders wealth also started.
Today they are somewhat anti-immigration, and very happy to participate in the EU.
This led to a spinn-off party, true to their roots, that hovers at around 0.1 to 0.3% while the rest marched on to wealth and becoming more mainstream.
I think this happens in every party that wants to grow. The ideological and "true" parties remain forever small.
@ChrisMayLA6 This sounds like it surely is some kind of discovered political law. if you want your party to grow, broaden it, leave the grass roots, alienate the original founders. If you want your party to fight for the original ideals, it will remain small.
A beautiful example of this can be seen in the swedish nationalist party. In the beginning they were fiercly anti-immigration, and anti-EU. It took them at least a decade, or maybe it was 2, to reach about 4% and enter the parliament.
@lain This is the way! They are already excellent at writing B.S. so halfway there.
@wzqtparor Drop discord. Embrace irc, delta chat, xmpp or matrix.
@ChrisMayLA6 Looking at the swedish tax department, the answer is clear. Envious and vindictive proceduralists with a strong socialist flavour. Most of them have never worked a day in the private sector and lack an understanding of what it is and why it is important.
@ChrisMayLA6 downward spiral.
If I were to guess, I imagine that the new greens are way closer to "the people".
@ChrisMayLA6 You are a wise man! It would be interesting to have a top class scientist look into this. How come our current generation of political leaders, regardless of color, are so incompetent, so bad, and so distanced from the population?
I don't know anyone who dreams of becoming friends with politicians, or is naming their children after them.
Naturally this leads to politicians then closing themselves off from the public, and the echo chambers is then complete, which furthers the
After today's local elections we will have a good idea how bad a mess the Labour Party is in (even if this also refracted through local issues).
This weekend will also see a tsunami of commentary about the Labour Party leadership for sure; but much of this will continue to treat politics as a soap opera that takes place in the Westminster village.
For many voters this is exactly the problem they see when the mainstream media & parties claim the 'insurgents' are not fit to govern...
@hanamlchl is presented in the media, it turns enormous numbers of people off of doing something for the environment.
@hanamlchl This is the death cult of modern environmentalism. Anything has higher value than humans, humans are the first to be sacrificed. They are completely incapable of thinking win/win, of improving science, or accepting a loss to the environment, which can be repaired later, if it will result in saing lives of humans.
It's a very destructive and authoritarian ideology and must be crushed.
The sad thing is, the environment is important, but since the death cult is the only ideology that
@elston_ Well, you do need a flexible mind and a flexible soul if you want to become an elite politician.
Study: Brain differences between Paleolithic Humans and Neanderthals (separate species) are found to be smaller than those between contemporary Americans and Chinese (same species).
For seemingly ideological reasons, the authors declare that these differences are "not evolutionarily significant."
Obviously, there are evolutionarily significant cognitive differences between modern human populations, such as those that enabled Europeans to conquer ~85% of the Earth's surface from ~1490 to ~1920 AD, and those that prevented Sub-Saharan Africans from inventing the wheel.
@BanditoWalrus Ahh... so that's where Gavin Newsom comes from!
@elston_ Retain the right? They are a sovereign nation, so they do what they want.
I think the israeli people are getting tired of war, and given the opportunity, they might throw the current leader into jail due to his corruption scandals.
@wordshaper @mhoye There was this internship in 2001 where I replaced AIX on an obsolete RS/6000 with a hacked up Linux and ran a DNS server on it. That was all the experience I had with AIX.
The RS/6000 has a PowerPC 604e (PReP). At some point, I realized that the office printer *also* had a PPC 604e but a faster one 🤣
