🇬🇧🇸🇩 The level of hatred required to do this to an innocent man is incomprehensible

That should be aout 1195 characters of Sherlock Holmes.

But for the trained reasoner to
admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was
to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental
results. Grit in a sensitive instrument, or a crack in one of his own high-power
lenses, would not be more disturbing than a strong emotion in a nature such as
his. And yet there was but one woman to him, and that woman was the late Irene
Adler, of dubious and questionable memory.

He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and
observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed
himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a
gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer—excellent for
drawing the veil from men’s motives and actions.

And now a test with more than 500 characters.

To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her
under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her
sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All
emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but
admirably balanced mind.

Testing a vibe coded mastodon client.

I find it very annoying that neither Jolla nor furilabs answer emails.

I wonder if it is a process issue, they are not used to email and customer questions, or if they are so popular they feel they can just avoid annoying questions?

@jeffcliff @gorskon This is the truth! Only yesterday I read about scammers messaging companies through their own open teams instances, following up with a faked voice message asking their IT to do various things on behalf of the "IT-manager". Interesting times!

@jeffcliff @gorskon Ahh... got it! Well, plenty of nice AI scams and other stuff to choose from in the daily news feed.

@troed I guess this puts me neither in the anti-LLm camp nor in the LLM:s are god camp.

But this is the thing... that's a boring take.

Just like when it comes to vaccines. Most work, all have side effects, and historically there have been examples of horrible side effects.

Again, that puts me neither in the "no to all" or vaccines are god camp.

It depends on your condition, and what the vaccine is for.

@troed I don't see what the drama is all about. Granted, I'm not a professional developer, but I do know my way around source code.

For anyone who wants to know, it is as easy as going to chatgpt.com and enter what you want to be done.

It works for me. Would it make me 10x more productive? Most certainly not. But if I were to work full time with scripting/operations, it might save me a couple of hours per week or so.

Interesting link between Calhouns mouse experiments and the decline of the roman empire due to decreasing fertility.

Never heard about the roman angle before, and that it possibly reinforces Calhouns experiments.

@ojotyg Excellent! We must pray together that Ukraine will soon win the war and kick out the russian terrorist and nazis! Then the de-nazification of russia can begin! =)

@Dan_Ramos I read somewhere that driverless cars and trucks are now less prone to accidents than human driven cars. Is this true, or was it a marketing piece?
