THE RULE OF LAW, GERMAN-STYLE: FREEDOM FOR THE EX-CONSTITUTIONAL COURT JUDGE!

You’ve just got to love our model state! A former constitutional court judge and SPD official allegedly hoards a cool 1.7 million files depicting abuse across 40 hard drives, yet the judicial system remains totally unbothered (https://x.com/aldoushuxiey/status/2083646788947321224?s=46). Grounds for detention? None to be found! Naturally, the gentleman remains at liberty. Who needs pre-trial detention for a data haul like that when you’ve got the right old party memberships and connections?

While the average citizen feels the full force of the law for an illegally parked car or unpaid broadcasting fees, a "premium" motto seems to apply here: judges protect judges. It is a slap in the face for every victim—but hey, at least the façade of moral superiority remains intact. The rule of law is working—at least for the elite!

@Incal Nothing strange. The new nobility, politicians, are granting themselves legal immunity more and more often. When that is not the case, trust that they will always receive a slap on the wrist, while you would go to prison for the same crime.

This is why we no longer have democracy in europe. We have a hidden feodal system, where the politicians are the nobility, and the people the serfs who are forced to work to support them.

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social Oh, please be mindful of the guardian. It is a socialist rag, so the articles can never be trusted to be free of ideology.

@troed I'm planning to move off Hetzner due to price increases, so am comparing prices at the moment.

@troed Which colocation provider are you using?

@cyluhe Incorrect. Putin killed her by starting a nonsense war against an independent and free country. Take up your sorrows with Putin. 🇺🇦 ✝️ 🇮🇱 🇺🇸

@remixtures This is the way! Let this be a lesson for ordinary IT workers too. Change jobs as often as you credibly can to bump up your salary. Rest assured, there is no loyalty from the side of the global corporation. They will throw you out as quickly as they can. So take the chances you get when you get them and maximize your salary.

@PaulJosephWatson Jesus Christ! The UK is going crazy! Very sad. =(

@remixtures A beautiful case of my enemys enemy. It is very exciting to follow how china intends to crush the US AI behemoths with open weight models.

What is also interesting to ponder is if there are hidden security holes in china open weight models.

If there are, I guess sooner or later, we'll find out.

@lain Go for loose leaf tea! That way you avoid the micro plastics in most teabags.

@Dan_Ramos @DrChris If you are eating, please shut off the camera. It is not so interesting to sit and watch another persons zoomed in face when they are stuffing themselves with food.

Someone having a sip of coffee on camera I have less of a problem with.

@berkesch No! Voting is way too important for ID-checks.

Only online surveillance and censorship require it.

@reclaimthenet Will it force it on mastodon? Or are we only talking the mainstream corporations?

@remixtures This is good! Unions are very bad and unethical organizations and should not exist. We must work together to smash them to pieces, so that we can get back to work and make the world a better place through capitalism!

@troed I find that it saves me about 20%-30% when I vibe code together student assignments for my students.

The annoying thing, which by now is of course not news, is that it misses things and it misses test cases and certain errors. So I have to read and understand it and I can most definitely not trust it.

But yes, in total, probably 20%-30% time savings.

"I don't know what everyone else is seeing. I'm hearing they are very good for certain functions. Are you going to have them write all your production code? No. Are they great for prototyping? Yes. Can they help an experienced coder do more with less? Yes. It's a mixed bag. Are they going to replace all medical professionals with medical advice? No."

@Gina @rikviergever @murena Call Fairphone and ask them to get Ubuntu touch to work on their phone asap. It is sad that it only works on fairphone 5 at the moment. =(

📣 More Dutch companies are making their Android apps inaccessible on alternative mobile devices, by using the strictest Google Play Integrity API settings. 📣

After Funda and Rabobank, now a public collective for emergency controlrooms has made their app inactive on open source OS's. Caught by @rikviergever from @murena .

We can't keep being dependent on two US big tech companies. If we want more digital sovereignty, we'll need to invest in mobile alternatives.
