@irie Thank you for the protip; that's going to be very useful. Not pictured is the big ol' jar of instant coffee granules I'm going to pick up at the local supermarket on payday. The refill coffee bag will go into that when the jar is about half empty, and then I'll close it up and shake it to make an "original" blend. The caramel coffee pack is there to be the milk and sugar that goes into the coffee.

I thought about getting one of those coffee pod machines but would rather go with the kettle instead. The kettle could also prepare hot water for instant noodles, so it has more possible use cases.
