@judgedread I have been sharing food with crows for years. One time an older crow came up while I was on a break with an apprentice and I gave it pistachios and it seemed to talk to me so I talked back to it. That apprentice thought it was the coolest thing ever. The trick is to see them, give them food a safe distance away from you, and then just leave them to it without watching them eat it. After a while they'll start trying to get your attention when they see you.
