One issue with Nadeia: I overdesigned the rune patterns on her horns and choker. Replicating those complex geometric patterns on dozens of panels... NOPE. I'll simplify it or something :kekw:

This next 6-8 months is going to be really rough but I pray that it pays off...

@Cayhr OMG a yolanda drawing without the inverted nipples, it is finally coming true

@37712 Nah this is Nadeia, from the last drawing I did. This time the girl is an outie, not an innie.

@Cayhr oh so it is not yolanda cool, I like that you have these different girls to draw, not a fan of the bat wings through

@37712 Hrmmm I've always seen succubi that use bat wings, but I'm curious as to what other kind of wings could be used :thonk: . Also yes, it is very helpful to have a variety of characters I can draw. Yolanda is for personal drawing and experimentation (guinea pig OC, but that doesn't mean she isn't special), and my other characters I plan to use for stories and projects.

@RehnSturm256 What do you think? Honestly it's not something I've really given too much thought... I fell prey to the conventional depiction of anime succubus girls.
@Cayhr @37712 I think it's interesting, bat-like demon wings are the norm I thought? :thinkinghrr: having them come out of the hips is a nice touch, and the contrast of the sexy soft woman with these scary sharp wings adds a layer of tantalizing danger that monstergirls elicit. :heh:
@RehnSturm256 Bat wings are usually used -I think- because they have a kind of menacing factor to them. There's a claw (sharp = danger), and the thin, boney shape looks kinda gross. Like you say, it provides a contrast.
I am now wondering... for the sake of being different, what would be another viable animal wing for a succubus girl?

@37712
@Cayhr @37712 some people might be thinking of dragon wings maybe, but I thought it's mostly bat-like in the stuff I've read.
@Cayhr @RehnSturm256 @37712 I have no idea WTF you guys are talking about, I just want to take the opportunity to say there's a TTRPG called "Batwinged Bimbos from Hell", which is a supplement for the TTRPG Macho Women with Guns,
@Suzu The original discussion was about why are bat wings usually used for anime succubus girls?

@37712 @RehnSturm256
@Cayhr @37712 @RehnSturm256 That's actually a pretty interesting question, but not only about anime, but in pop culture in general.
See, succubuses in folklore were just very beautiful women, but when you looked too closely and were not under their charm, you could see their deformities and imperfections, which took the form of claws in their hands and shit like that. No mention of bat wings. There's also an 18th century short story by Honoré de Balzac that is about a succubus, and she was just an insanely beautiful black woman (a Moor, to be more exact) who charmed men, no bat wings.
I don't know when pop culture decided to give bat wings to succubuses (and demons in general), but I think I have an idea. The Monster Manual in the 1st edition of AD&D, from 1977, had an entry for the succubus, depicting it with bat wings and even mentioning them in the text. And as much as we like to dunk in nerds and RPG, it's a fact that AD&D helped shape pop culture in regards to monsters and fantasy shit in the 80's, with it's influence being felt up to today.
@RehnSturm256 @37712 @Cayhr it's actually pretty weird. I don't remember details, and the prose is very tiresome to read because it depicts a 12th century trial and everyone talks like a retard, but one of the charmed guys didn't even have sex with her, the guy is just so infatuated that he wants to spend all his free time with her and do things by her side. I guess she fed on his energy just by being together, IDK.
@Suzu @37712 @Cayhr booo, that's the most boring kind of succubus :meru_pout: like a "findom" girl, giving nothing but taking up your time and money... Lots of symbolism in the tales methinks. Warnings for men not to waste their time or seed on frivolous gorls :awoo_naruhodo3:
@RehnSturm256 @37712 @Cayhr yeah, demons in medieval texts all had this "cautionary tale" vibe. The succubus is very obviously a fundamentalist Christian "the dangers of the women" story.
@Suzu @RehnSturm256 @37712 @Cayhr and now we want to marry them. Bet they didn't see that coming
@Kyonko802 @Suzu @37712 @RehnSturm256 The desire for romance and horny supercedes the old scriptures.
@PunishedLenny3 @37712 @Cayhr @RehnSturm256 @Suzu that one post that's like "I like monster girls because the monster is on the outside" lmao
@Suzu Yeah, a succubus may not even have these externalities like horns, bat wings, and barbed tails after all. However, I think they are all highly meritous additions for what @RehnSturm256 mentioned: the contrast to the woman's beauty. There's something... exotic and quite compelling about (in my case) a soft, beautiful, sexy, breedable woman that has those features associated with "danger."

@37712
@Cayhr @37712 @RehnSturm256 as I said, even in folklore, they had some "dangerous" features, considered deformities, like razor sharp claws. But the idea is that it's something subtle, so you won't notice until it's too late, or won't notice unless you pay very close attention and aren't charmed.
It's like the original version of the sirens, who looked like beautiful women from far, but when you got close enough you could see something was off and they were actually monsters.
@LoliHat @Cayhr @37712 you gotta be careful with feathers because you don't want your succubus to look like an angel :zt_nod: but that'd be interdasting.
@RehnSturm256 @LoliHat @37712 Yeah I think another reason for using the bat wings is to avoid the gracefulness of feathers. Membraned wings look more grotesque.
@Cayhr @RehnSturm256 @37712 In that case, you could always do flying squirrel wings/membranes.
@LoliHat Yeah but the wings on succubus girls are supposed to be external appendages. Also flying squirrels are in the realm of fur and hair... not exactly the smooth/sleek skin of a supple sex demon.

PS: As I was typing this you sent the pterodactyl image. It's close enough to the bat wings where it's a smooth, membraned wing appendage.

Also, @RehnSturm256 I love the wings coming out from the hips. I don't know what it is, but it's so much more sexy. :hypercum:
