A bit of quick economic theory here:

Higher interest rates on US debt worth increases the demand for US debt (earning more money is always the goal). Since US debt is denominated in dollars, it thus increases the demand for US dollars. It therefore, all other factors being equal, increases the value of dollars in relationship to other currencies.

Now, all other factors are almost never equal, so the increase can easily be overwhelmed by those other factors.

Simplicius gives an in-depth report of Iran’s massive attack against US assets in the region on Sept 8. It was largest such attack since early in the year. The target was Muwaffaq Salti Airbase in Jordan, as well as US naval assets around the region. As shown in a video embedded in the article, the US expended a huge amount of Patriot missiles: some believe upwards of 100+, but most reports put it closer to 30. Reports of injuries and damaged aircraft vary significantly, with CENTCOM claiming there were no injuries at all. Later reports from yesterday indicate nine US aircraft damaged at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan. Trump reacted by posting a map with the Strait of Hormuz renamed to Trump Strait.

Cost accounting: 30+ Patriots at roughly $4M each ≈ $120M of air defense burned in one salvo. One tally puts single-day US losses "over half a billion dollars" including up to $450M in interceptors. No worries, we can print more money at any time.

Iran reiterates conditions for ending the war: halt all strikes, force an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, end Gaza, lift the Yemen siege, release $24 billion in frozen assets, stop interfering with the nuclear and missile programs. 



The "2 for 20" deterrence equation: Iran’s claim that “every two Iranian targets struck draws attacks on twenty US targets” is being read as an insurance-market problem more than a military one: can they deliver? Doubtful. Can underwriters afford to assume they can't? Less doubtful. I’m sure there’s a fitting Sun Tzu quote for this…

CENTCOM says the Anduril undersea drone Iran captured was an old model that collected nothing sensitive; Anduril's founder says it provided significant value for months. Obviously both statements cannot be true…

Houthis seize strategic Red Sea city Mocha. Reuters-sourced confirmation that Ansarallah seized the Red Sea port, with PLC forces fully withdrawing and a new push south toward Al-Mazaq. Claimed advance of ~2,600 km² across Taiz and Hodeidah in hours. Outside of the Yemen civil war itself, the bigger issue is the potential for more disruption to shipping. Give them credit, the Houthis are some scrappy little bastards.

Russia continues to grind on Ukraine. Kiev is back asking Europe for another $27B before year-end, the budget committee says it was warned of $7.5B not $27B. At the same time the Pentagon has informed allies to prepare for a "protracted" war. All the usual suspects will benefit from the endless slaughter.

Brent costs stay above 100$ per barrel, but diesel is the sharp end. US national average hit a record $5.94/gal (+72% in nine months) and $6/gal is described as already in the pipeline and unavoidable. In a related story, US Energy Secretary says Americans have to drive less if they want lower gas prices. You must serve the jewish interests above all, goyim.

Trump: $5,000 per adult citizen if Republicans win the midterms. ~245M adults → ~$1.2 trillion. This from the guy that promised secure borders, a DOGE dividend, tariff rebates, and no more wars. It’s as though he’s just trying to be as much of a clown as possible.

The Dive LD, developed by Palmer Lucky's Anduril and delivered to the U.S. Navy for operational testing in 2025, is a cutting edge Autonomous Underwater Vehicle with 10-day endurance and 6000m depth.

It is used for mapping the seabed, deploying loitering munitions, inspecting underwater infrastructure, relaying and intercepting communications, and detecting sea and underwater mines.

Senior U.S. officials told Fox News that the U.S. military has struck targets near Iran’s Kharg Island and Jask, including Iranian oil tankers.

The official said the strikes are part of a broader campaign to increase economic pressure on Iran, with the strategy including the disabling and sinking of Iranian crude oil tankers.
