History Legends and Middle East Observer teamed up to create a no bullshit database of Russian and Ukrainian losses in the Russo Ukraine war. They painstakingly went through websites like Mediazona, Lost Armour and a few others, took out the duplicates, took out the ones that couldn't be verified and came up with these figures from February 2022-2026:

Russia KIA/missing: 155,726

Ukraine KIA/Missing: 170,537

This means Russia has a 1.1:1 Kill to Death ratio (K/D) in Ukraine.

He says he's gonna dig deeper into the data to find a more in depth explanation on the figures.

@Terry Where did all the Ukraine men go if less than 200k KIA, MIA?

@All_Ogre the missing on the Ukraine side might be a bit under reported
@Chzikken_1486 @Terry @All_Ogre Press gangs is a nice way of putting it lol

One minute you're about to jump on your scooter and deliver an Uber pizza, the next 4 recruiters are beating the shit out of you and stuffing you and the pizza into a holol recruiter van.

Current Ukr fighting strength about 250k, 300k (russians have 700k in Ukraine itself)
Number of desertions, nearing 400k. (though desertions could mean anything in Ukraine, they love not paying the families of dead and missing soldiers, cos they're filthy hohols)
@Terry @All_Ogre This just isn't possible.
Lets do some very simple math.

Ukraine
2022 250k troops (low quality)
2026 250k troops (conscripts)
(4 years x fighting a far better trained, equipped military, they've gone through 2 or 3 full armies in that 4 years)

Ukrainians admit they are low on men, since early 2025

Ukraine has lost over a million men dead and maimed.

The fighting in Bahkmut alone was costing the Ukrainians prolly 10k men a week. It was so bad that the Ukrainians force conscripted the engineers and construction workers who had built reinforcements behind bahkmut during the battle.

They have repeated this fixed position suicide ever since.

Remember Kherson 2022? the Russian withdrawal there was orderly, got all their gear and men out, why? because the west north and south sides were Ukrainian held, so they retreated, rightly so as they were a salient with a river separating them from reinforcements and supplies

Ukr on the other hand as we see repeatedly, do not allow their men to retreat from hopeless situations because Zelensky doesn't allow it or allow it in time for international media reasons.

The likely real numbers are
around 200k Russian casualties dead and maimed
around 1.2 million Ukrainians dead and maimed
@Terry @All_Ogre Ukraine loses control of the battlefield afterwards as Russia controls it.

So after every battle tons of dead Ukrainians are "missing".
This means the Ukrainians can stiff the widows and families of money.

Also, 400k desertions since the war started.
Understandable, why would all those ethnic russians the hohols force conscripted from the towns and villages want to fight in this war
The Zelensky regime prefers it when their KIA are "missing", they manage to weasel their way out of some form of compensation with that little trick.
