I think xenoblade X has made me realize that I'm just not a mecha guy.

Like giant robots are cool in concept, I guess, but I don't really understand what makes a particular mech design appealing or why someone would have a preference for one mech over another.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool to see a big machine going about it's business. That's why I understand the train autists out there, even if I don't share their enthusiasm.

@VD15 Seeing a giant mech roaming around and shooting big guns is really cool, yes, but that's about it. The act of balancing on legs is difficult. It makes sense if in-universe there is some reason to have them such as anti-grav jets don't exist or can't support the size of weapon, but I posit that track vehicles are superior still since they don't have the balance issues and can handle difficult terrain. Even with fusion cores like in Roguetech, you'd still be better off with large tanks.
