I’ve been saying this since I moved out; I grew up with a nuclear family and it certainly has its merits; but it’s not exactly the norm, in history. 3 generations in one house is far more normal. Biblically, the significant condition is that a man leaves his mother’s house and cleaves to his wife. There are all kinds of ways this plays out, in potentia.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @cowanon It's not terribly expensive to build multiple dwellings on your own land
@Escoffier @KingOfWhiteAmerica @cowanon your definition of 'terribly expensive' might differ from most lol

@EssentialUtinsil @Escoffier @KingOfWhiteAmerica @cowanon assuming we continue to move from a homogeneous high trust society to a multiracial low trust society, we might move from single (nuclear) family homes to larger extended family compounds estates out of necessity

@vonzeppelin @Escoffier @KingOfWhiteAmerica @cowanon that still requires either inheriting large enough estates or being able to buy them and also be able to build additional housing on said estates.
@EssentialUtinsil @vonzeppelin @KingOfWhiteAmerica @cowanon Seriously tho take Indy for example you could work in the city and live in some serious rural. This is true of a lot of mid tier cities

@Escoffier @cowanon @EssentialUtinsil @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin Even better, go into the trades like large animal vet and open a practice in the middle of nowhere farm country. You will make all the money because jobs like that are always in demand, you'll be able to make your own hours, and the cost of living is significantly lower in those areas.
Plus, you can enjoy firearms on your own property, and the neighbors' only complaint will be that you didn't invite them along!

@DoubleD @Escoffier @cowanon @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin You think you’re gonna make you’re own hours as a large animal vet in a rural area?
@reallyangry @KingOfWhiteAmerica @nugger @DoubleD @Escoffier @cowanon @vonzeppelin if you’re one of the only vets around you’re gonna be on call basically all the time, but you’ll get paid well if you’re good.
@reallyangry @KingOfWhiteAmerica @nugger @DoubleD @Escoffier @cowanon @vonzeppelin I got to watch a vet untwist a cows stomach at the dairy farm I used to work at. They just cut a hole in the side of the cow and stick their arm in, pretty wild.
@reallyangry @EssentialUtinsil @nugger @DoubleD @Escoffier @cowanon @vonzeppelin One time, my dog was hurting pretty bad, and one thing led to another, and I spent a few weeks in indentured servitude to the local vet.

@EssentialUtinsil @cowanon @Escoffier @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin I didn't say it would be fun. Yes, I'm glad to see everyone understand these factors! The point remains that it is that you can make a good living in the trades/specialized agricultural skills in a rural area. The important factor is that you're away from the city with good money doing so.

@EssentialUtinsil @cowanon @Escoffier @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin When you're the only one who can answer an emergency at 3 AM because Annie is breaching, no, it's not fun, but generally, I agree that what you do should be enjoyable to remain as your career.

>what you do should be enjoyable to remain as your career
Yeah. That word again. "Should". Ha ha.
@EssentialUtinsil @DoubleD @cowanon @Escoffier @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin Fun isn't the same as rewarding and fulfilling I can do plenty of things that aren't fun but I find rewarding and fulfilling
