@Based_Accelerationist @mutageno2 it was not tribal identity. it were pagan gods, which were the same pantheon that greeks and romans and egyptions had. same pantheon that indians have. it was the original sumerian pantheon, just seen through different culture, language, time and location. christianity came with the idea of out with the old, in with the new. replace polytheism with monotheism. but that goes back to marduk in babylon, who started it all.
@Justicar It was a part of their tribal identity. All religions are based on stories/myths from other cultures, including Abrahamic religions, they're no different. The story of Jesus is very similar to that of Horus, for instance. Nothing "new" about it.
They weren't "pagan gods", they were Gods, same as any other, same as the Jewish God that Noahide gentile now accept.
They didn't have a name for the religion, because it was theirs.
