@Pain66 This shouldn't work. If he has to pay for the child due to adoption, then he should have the option to take full custody and cut them out of the picture. Not that he should want that, but it'd be a bargaining chip.

It seems American law is just confused and unable to keep responsibility and authority in one piece.
