@KingOfWhiteAmerica Tips on teaching a child? I play guitar and bass, but not ukelele. He actually wants to play banjo, which I also happen to not play.
@RoninGrey Assuming you’ve reached Lesson Phase; whether you’re doing it yourself, or convincing someone else to do it, I remain convinced the real key is to have fun and enjoy it - with the only possible exception being those cases where you’ve got specific commitments. Ideally, the most important thing is that it’s fulfilling to such an extent, that the hard work is inspired and 100% worth it.
@RoninGrey Lessons aren’t entirely off the table; but the single most important thing I’d recommend is both working hard at practice, and enjoying playing, yourself. And in time, he might actually want to pattern his own behavior after yours. This has a few related parallel corrolaries; ie questions about how big a priority does he see you make of, say, watching tutorials ? or other music related media ? You don’t have to answer these for me - but I’ve found they’re significant. If he turns out to be the sort that’s willing to do the heavy-lifting for himself, without unreasonable expectations, a few lessons might very well be worth it. I remember I didn’t really need somebody to make me want to practice. Like a moth to flame, I was drawn in.
