One difference between atheists and Christians is that atheists might be worried about going to jail after killing someone, but probably won't be worried about going to Hell.
The reason Atheists aren't murdering people are not due to fear of either Jail nor Prison.
Normal functioning human beings that are not total psychopaths have a psychological barrier in their minds called conscience that prevents them from killing other humans and other horrible crimes.
It is not as if Atheism somehow does away with this genetically inherited barrier.
Maybe "people" with lower intelligence might need religion to guide them unto the right path though.
@EvolLove @freepatriot relgious people are either too lazy to do research or they are miserable fucks that use it as a coping mech because they're too poor to get a therapist, relgion is just wishful thinking on steroids
The most common reason for murder being cleared up are probably the murderer confessing. Even turning themselves in.
Because it ways so heavy on their conscience, knowing what they have done. I would imagine that they keep thinking of it all the time and the constant fear of the police suddenly knocking on the door drives them nuts.
So they break down and turn themselves in and confess just to get it of their chest.
It is the only way they can regain some peace of mind.

And not only to keep them from hurting others, perhaps more so from hurting themselves. To find some kid of komfort, something to relate to.
I am sure that religion can help people who are lost.
But there are today some European Nations where the Aryan population mostly are Christian in name only. They never go to church and no one seriously believes in either hell or heaven.
Still no rampant murder spree.
But the Islamist immigrants is another story.
@EvolLove @Rezuming @freepatriot
Plenty of people have been murdered in the name of someone’s “god”
I consider it a catalyst more than a barrier
It becomes justification
@freepatriot for me as a satanist, going to hell doesn't mean punishment.
