I wish we could get parent's to understand that a "Gifted" child today is about on par with the average kids in their classrooms growing up

@BigDuck No, it's what they say about kids that do well in school to the point it was effortless for them. Some schools try to help them out and give them better materials to actually challenge them, but they're still hampered by gay standards that are STILL way too easy.
Most of us here probably fell into the category, because public schooling has been dumbed down to make niggers and non-english-speakers not fail out when trying at 40% effort.
Millennials get this a lot, where their parents expected to have a brilliant, hyper successful genius in teh family and instead they get a 30 year old bachelor in a dead end job who can't scrape his way out of the life he's fallen into

@WashedOutGundamPilot @BigDuck not to mention that many boomers weren’t really on the average or top of their class but rather on the very bottom back when they were children, so being just slightly smarter than them can register as genius since their margin of reference is so low to begin with.

@EdBoatConnoisseur @BigDuck @WashedOutGundamPilot I do think there is a factor of the standards of grading became easier over the decades, as I recall one my uncles mentioning that expectations for grading were not the same, with Bs and Cs being not too bad where now As are expected.
Also, look at the material taught over a hundred years ago and see how much more difficult it was. Grades may be higher, but that does not mean anyone is smarter.

there's a huge difference between a 65 IQ white kid, whose mom was injecting heavy metals directly into her bloodstream during pregnancy or some shit, and a 65 IQ black kid who's just kinda slow by the standards of his race

@houseoftolstoy @EdBoatConnoisseur @BigDuck I had a tutor from the old generation for a while, he'd give me extra homework and in all the time doing it I only got a single A that I can remember.
