Yeah, no. The colonists took up arms and fought the Great Britain when they found out that there was no amount of peaceful means that would get what they wanted. Which also explains why our founders included the 2nd amendment in the constitution.
Yeah, we have not really made that much use out of it, but the fact that we still have that option means we still have a little hope.
