@PapaPole @Humpleupagus The first question I would ask someone like this is what kind of life does he want to live. The second question would be what is preventing him from living that kind of life?
If the answer to the second question is government or others that would forcefully impede him (assuming he is keeping to himself), then I have sympathy. If it is reality because he just wants to be paid to do jack shit, then he is just a lazy faggot.
@Humpleupagus @PapaPole Being able to work for yourself is nice, though it of course comes with the burden all falling on you if you succeed or fail.
Another thing I would mention about the people complaining about modern work is that they want to do something that might technically be labor, but not something in that much demand (many "artists" for example).
Reality and market forces are not valid reasons for complaints.
I, on the otherhand, took a seminar on solo-practice, passed the bar, and hung my shingle. Now I only get up on the days I have to be in court, which isn't every day. Plus, thanks to the covid shutdown, zoom has become the norm, so even when I do have to get up, it's not at 6:30am, it's closer to 8am.
And while I do have an office, it's only a few miles from my house, and I work from home most days, so my "commute" is non-existent.
