@spectre Falling for things has very little to do with intelligence. There's a long history of highly intelligent people falling hard for crazy ideas.
Not falling for things has almost everything to do with the ability to say no to authority, or independence of thought. Coupled with intuition, or the ability to spot bullshit.
In Game of Thrones that would be Clegane and Bronn.

Intelligence is one's ability to process information. Meanwhile he is describing other attributes like curiosity, skepticism, disagreeableness.
So if a man is agreeable or a follower, he will follow authority. His intelligence determines how well he follow the rules. An intelligent person is able to follow a large number of rules and to a finer detail (like a lawyer or doctor)
