If your Church is anti polygyny then it has been infected with feminism

Most Churches even in so called conservative states are infected with feminism

I am not claiming Joseph Smith is a profit

This information was clear in the old and new testament without any additional writings by Joseph Smith

I am not saying whether or not the Bible is true

I am simply saying that any prohibitions on polygyny in the Old and New Testanent are the exceptions to the general rule in the Bible to allow it

@shortstories A Bishop should be a husband of ONE wife, and thruout the 2000 year history of Christianity polygyny was reviled. (Also you can measure a polygamous people by their fruits; in the Mormon dominated American Southwest you can find polygamous communities that run out their children and the wife crisis is well known in the Middle East - that's not even getting into the Reddit tier polygamy)

@SAKURARadiochan

"A Bishop should be a husband of ONE wife"

"Mia" can mean
"a"
"first"
"one"

that only applies to a bishop and to apply that to other people is intellectually dishonest for someone who has studied the Bible sufficiently to be qualified to know where all the passages in the Bible that contain rules about who may marry who are

@shortstories Dude, the Bible does not say it's OK to have more than one wife in the New Testament and that's been cited for thousands of years as one of the reason why.

@SAKURARadiochan

Every single verse in the Bible in both the old and new testament tbat allows a unmarried man to get married to a unmarried woman also allows a married man to get married to a unmarried woman

the word man refers to both married men and unmarried men

If it only includes married men then unmarried men are exempt from the crimes listed in Deuteronomy 22

If it only includes unmarried men then married men are exempt from the crimes listed in Deuteronomy 22

@shortstories The Law was fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

That being said Solomon's wives were considered to have been a detriment to him.

@SAKURARadiochan

King David was given at least 17 wives and God would have given him even more if he asked but he was not permitted to have another man's wife

@shortstories That was also considered a detriment. It showed that King David could not control his lust.

@SAKURARadiochan

If he took the 17 wives and did not take the wife of another man then it would have been O.K.

In fact God gave them to him

So God should not have given them to him if God did not want him to have them

@shortstories No, it wouldn't have been OK, it's a lesson in how he was devoured by his lust. Most of the Old Testament is about how the Jews were the worst, stupidest people on Earth, constantly giving in to their temptations, and it's part of the reason why Jesus Christ was chosen from among them.

@SAKURARadiochan

Who married both of these women

God or Ezekiel?

"The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem."

Ezekiel 23:4 NIV
