>Women with low blood levels of vitamin D during pregnancy, for example, were more than twice as likely to have a child with autism as those who were not vitamin D-deficient, according to one analysis in the Netherlands.

>Children with ASD consistently reported significantly lower vitamin D levels than typically developing children. Moreover, vitamin D deficiency was found to be strongly correlated with ASD severity.

>Children who are, or who are destined to become, autistic have lower 25(OH)D levels at 3 months of gestation, at birth and at age 8 compared to their unaffected siblings. Two open label trials found high dose vitamin D improves the core symptoms of autism in about 75% of autistic children. A few of the improvements were remarkable.

>There is increasing evidence that vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy and early childhood can lead to the occurrence of ASD. Studies have demonstrated that vitamin D intervention can significantly improve the symptoms of ASD, but the underlying mechanism is still unclear.
@CatLord So, what you're saying is, don't go outside when pregnant, because we want more autists.
...
This also explains the nips.
@CatLord If you're not autismmaxing you're doing it wrong.

@Zergling_man @CatLord

So we want to maximize the number of high functioning autistic people while minimizing the number of low functioning autistic people

@shortstories @Zergling_man savants, specialists, and geniuses will always be around, as long as we're doing okay as a nation tbh

@CatLord @Zergling_man

Would that mean that we can measure the success of a nation by the percentage of high functioning autists

@shortstories @Zergling_man i wouldn't really equate the categories i listed with high functioning autists. it's honestly a very difficult question: how much of autism is natural variance and how much of it is sickness.

people kid around with this stuff but i actually find it very interesting. it's important.

to answer your question: i don't know but genius is certainly something we value.

Genius conformists only make society a worse place when the standard to conform to makes things worse
