Was anyone else wondering? How has the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) reacted to the fall of the Ba’athist Arab nationalist regime, the beginning of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-led Islamist regime? For a few days I forgot to check, was worried the rebels-become-new government must have ransacked the party offices and sent members into hiding. But it seems, rather, they are still there.
As the party points out in this article, Google translated from the original
https://archive.ph/cO9jc, the SSNP and its belief system, formulated by Antoun Saadeh in the 1930s, predates Ba’athism, and (fortunately as it turns out) had had a falling out with Assad over the past few years (though I can’t help laughing at how right they were when, per a Wikipedia gem, “Prior to the fall of the Assad regime, the party referred to political opponents of the regime as ’internal Jews.’”), with the government even dismantling the Syrian branch of the party’s militia, Eagles of the Whirlwind (SSNP advocates a Greater Syria comprising much of the Levant, and so remains active in Lebanon—where Eagles of the Whirlwind is in the thick of the fight against the Israeli invasion, as you can read in the sidebar article).
Accepting that there is a new regime, the SSNP underlines an absolute essential:
”The Syrian Social Nationalist Party stresses that it is the duty of all national forces and every Syrian citizen to work to confront the Jewish invasion of southern Syria, in defense of the land, homeland and people, which cannot be liberated without a combat doctrine that is the basis for a national army that preserves the state and protects its lands, people and institutions.”
Thus far, while there are signs the new regime may not become the sort of liberalizing puppet government the “Assad must go” national security community and leftist sign wavers dreamed of for thirteen years, HTS and friends seem more interested in conquering the “soft target” Kurdish SDF, which is at least homegrown, even as ISISrael, not content to destroy legacy Syrian war materiel, is currently invading even beyond the already occupied Golan Heights, marching into sizable towns with no resistance.
Why does it matter to Whites for peace in the Middle East? SSNP has been a staunch and consistent opponent of Zionism since its inception. ISISrael, with just over 7 million Jews, dominates the region. How? The states crafted after the Sykes-Picot agreement are individually too small, too internally divided, to stand up to the wealthy, Washington-backed Zionist state. The vision of a multiethnic, nonsectarian Greater Syria (the swastika-like symbol, called the whirlwind, is a combination of the Islamic crescent and the Christian cross), inspired by a shared heritage dating all the way back to the Assyrian Empire, could create the sense of unity needed for the natives of the region to effectively unite against the American-backed Jewish state.
Is SSNP our friend though? That it doesn’t have a racialist ideology has sometimes been used to distance them from the nationalist Right, e.g.
https://archive.ph/UpG8g, but recall, National Socialists are always fond of saying their ideology is specially fitted for the Germanic peoples—but Blood and Soil would be a poor fit for a region where tiny ethnic groups have lived in clusters of villages, with completely different groups just across the way, from time immemorial, and where many were traditionally nomadic. Although not just a copycat of National Socialism or any European Fascism, SSNP has from the beginning rejected “democracy” and been critical of capitalism. Woke media pundits, for instance here
https://archive.ph/924JO, aren’t fooled, and neither should you be.
Will HTS oppress the SSNP as they are their erstwhile Ba‘athist allies, treating them as worse than the foreign army now invading the country? Or will SSNP be allowed to freely operate and recruit? With a rival nationalistic creed gone, this may be an opportune moment for the patriots of a prostrate Syria to regroup and strengthen their institutions and networking while all eyes are on trained on how badly the Islamists in Damascus will mess things up.
MAY THE WHIRLWIND RISE OVER SYRIA!
