What’s the bet this is simply a fishing exercise to get any of these guys still alive to try and cross the border.
There will be an irregularity in their paperwork and they’ll find themselves on the frontline the following week.

If someone puts a gun to your head and drafts you and then is stupid enough to give you a gun it wpuld be self defense to shoot the person who put a gun to your head and told you to shoot other people instead of shooting the people that person tells you to shoot
@shortstories @atomic They don't give you a gun until long after you're press ganged, you're stuck between the enemies and guys behind you in basically the same situation, except their job is to shoot you if you don't go into the meat grinder.
