Allegedly there is now a cure for sickle cell anemia
It involves a bone marrow transplant
Here is the problem
It does not change the DNA that makes sickle cells
This means that if someone is cured they can still reproduce but now all their deecendants will have sickle cell
This actually spreads sickle cell disease faster
Each person can only transplant so much bone marrow per person this amplifies a dependancy of one group that reproduces faster on a group that reproduces slower on average
Most pregnant women with sickle cell disease also go on to be single mothers as it is common for them to be left by their male partners who claim they were unaware of their partner's sickle cell disease status.
