Hyundai dealer email from where I bought my 40+mpg elantra...
Are you ready to trade in for a 2026 RAM 1500?

Um wut? No thank you?
@adequate thats one of the most stolen vehicles here because it's so easy. you just need a flipper to scan for the door codes. you can literally just pop it on the side of the truck with a magnet in the evening and come back overnight with a cracked key and drive off with it
@graf Yeah they did some recalls on Hyundai and Kia over the security issues. I do love my car though for the fuel mileage. Some days I wish I'd upgraded for better seats.
@adequate I should go to the dealership to see if they have updates for my nav ngl
@graf @adequate Korean cars are easily stolen because they don’t have immobilizers probably because it’s cheaper

Tea Tootler said, "Korean cars are easily stolen because they don’t have immobilizers probably because it’s cheaper"

Does that mean the United States government can not turn off Korean cars while driving by remote control?

@shortstories @graf @adequate its just a key with a signature chip inside they’re not that complicated

no chip, no crank
@Wiz @shortstories @TeaTootler @adequate @graf
VATS was a neat idea, but I heard it didn't age well and could leave you stranded.
@pepsi_man @shortstories @TeaTootler @adequate @graf oh they aged poorly. The little metal contact strips wore down with time so as the keys aged, you'd have to wiggle them to get them to make enough contact to start.

Technical issues aside, they looked cool
@pepsi_man @shortstories @TeaTootler @adequate @graf and when the kids are with the sitter, plenty of room for me and the MRS to fold the seats down

Needs moar star star trek insignias and stuff. Because it looks like a shuttle craft.
